Good result. I'm in a similar position to yours and will go to court at the end of summer if they don't accept 100% liability before then.
I bet it's a good feeling to know you weren't in the wrong

It is good news. I too won my filtering claim so it seems to be a bit of a trend. Congratulations.

First congrats on the win.

my mate was taken out 4th august and is still waiting for it to go to court but hes been told he has to wait for all his injuries to heal before it will go to court and get a pay out, how much is a bolt in the leg worth in compensation these days? the lazy b*****d owes me £150

No idea, i suppose it depends on job you did, time off loss of earnings is it a life time injury.

Personally i was in significant pain for weeks had to see a physio, super strength painkillers etc. I dont think my back is damaged for life which is good :P.

I'll be fine with my gear being replaced n excess paid. After all the more i claim the higher insurance premiuns go (and i wouldnt like to see his renewal quote :P)

I reckon you should contact he police involved and point out the result - in fact, we (someone else) should put a little leaflet together entitled "it is legal to filter regardless of what you might think" - and either carry it in the wallet or distribute it to local police stations.

Its one thing to have a prang, it's another thing when someone in a position of authority is trying to blame you - you dont need all that on top of everything else.

Glad you got it sorted though.

Grats!
And likewise next time some jumped up idiot in uniform tells you it's illegal to filter tell him to go read his highway code that specifically allows for it and the tonnes of legal case history with bikers winning court cases when taken out filtering.

Sadly a lot of new or less clued up bikers may take their word for it and get bent over for it or admit to charges they are innocent of!

I've got a case in court at the moment where the 3rd party admited liability (Driving on the wrong side of the road hitting me head on), the 3rd party insurance is refusing to pay out (offered £200, yes that's £200 total settlement after 9 months of running us around).
Naturally we told them to Naff right off and it's now in court *sigh*.

Yea i was pretty upset he (police) tried to say i was to blame cos i was filtering (even though the other driver admitted to not checking his mirrors!). Add to the fact he interviewed me in the back of the abulance(spelling lol) while i was being assessed for injuries and was bleeding out my left boot!

Very upsetting he just couldnt wait to get outta there and eat some donuts!
