"what is that noise?" she asks. "Its the car" I reply. "I like it, brummm brummmm". lol

first car I owned was an E reg mazda 121. learned to drive in mazda 323 back in 1985.
yes i know what you mean, take my old mondeo, i change the oil and filter every year the battery and exhaust last 8 to 10 years and its good for 200k and almost never goes wrong,my old mark 3 cortina 1.3(i think it was about a 1975 vintage) was good for 100k it rusted away in about 8 years the batteries all lasted about 13 months much like the exhaust and you had to change the plugs rotor and cap every 5 or 6 k, the water pump and alternator lasted about 50k,like you say they were easy to work on,they had to be cos you never stop working on them

VW1200 '74 Beetle, complete with rusty heater channels. Got them welded up and new floorpans put in, passed my test, rolled it 3 days later!

Mine was a '73 Hillman Avenger 1500 super, metallic green and black vinyl roof.
When the gearbox broke the one fitted wasn't from a 1500. It was rapid up to 50, beat everything on the traffic light drag strip; but its top speed dropped to 70.

A '77 Mini 850 in one of BL's revolting colours, 'Antique Gold' a cross between vomit and a 70's bathroom suite. The drum brakes weren't brilliant but it went round the corners like a go-kart. I passed it to my brother when he started driving and it got him around until the rust saw it off in '94. Saved the bonnet badge when it went to a Mini garage for parts, in a box in the loft.

M Reg Volvo 440 2.0i SE. Good car, though it had a disagreement with the rear end of a Tigra belonging to a woman who decided to stop dead on a dark country road at night. Bought a nigh-on identical L reg one to replace it. Mrs Metal technically owned the F-reg Micra we'd had the use of before that so I don't count it as it wasn't mine.

(the reg is showing, it doesn't matter, the car was made into cutlery years ago)

A rare thing now the 850 engine - mate the crank to a 1275 block to make a 10,000rpm screamer (other parts maybe required )

Love old Minis!

I really don't see why idiots obscure number plates in photos - it's not like the number is hidden when random people see the vehicle on the street and are perfectly able to take their own photos, is it?

You're all bloody paranoid - I'd like to see who exactly in this forum has ever had their own plate cloned, with proof. I've never heard of it happening to anyone I know or have dealt with, and that's a hell of a lot of people.

It's just one of those stupid internet fads.

For the record I own :

KX09 AXO - 2009 Black Kawasaki Versys
LS51 MFE - 2001 Blue BMW 3 Series
LME 468K - 1972 Red Mini Cooper S
AMD 876T - 1978 White Yamaha RD400F
R812 ETW - 1998 Grey Honda CBR600F
YEO 6V - 1979 Red Suzuki TS250C

Lozzo be careful what you wish for! But I do know what you're getting at

You may end up with a couple land speed attempts

I can always prove exactly where my vehicles were at any given time, so all this suspected cloning scaremongering bollox doesn't bother me in the slightest. I'm a bit annoyed that so many supposedly intelligent people fall for it to be honest.
