After 45 mins of CPR he was pronounced dead at 16.56 local, the GP medical director said he had suffered major trauma to head, neck and chest so thankfully it seems he felt no pain. |

RIP.
So sad, the guy seemed like an absolute dude as well. My guess is he would have been knocked out the second his helmet came off - how many boxing blows worth of force into one to do that. He would for sure have been concussed, which means he didn't feel it at least. Thoughts go out to his family and friends. |

A sad and tragic loss for motorcycling, but why no mention of it on any of the news?. RIP Marco.

He was a brilliant racer, so unfortunate... I spent a little time looking back at his career in GP's...

Such a tragic loss.So strange how his bike veered across track like that, maybe due to his doing his upmost to try and make it kick back upright initially?
Controversial on occasions yes, but a true racer not a bland fast lap producer that so many of the Moto GP boys of today are. That boy could race and battle. He was perfectly set to fully take on the role of the charismatic personality when Valentino finally bows out. The whole thing is just so bad, what must Valentino be thinking knowing that unfortunately it was the impact of his bike with his great friend which caused his bseverest of injuries? A terrible ,terrible moment for the sport. |

If he'd just let it slide, he'd still be alive. But he didn't - that wasn't the kind of rider he was - and so it ended the way it did. ****ing bad luck.

From what I could see he practically fell off the inside of the bike due to the initial slide, it happens. Most likely his foot slipped off the inside footpeg. At that point he had no control over the bike and it went were the laws of physics wanted to take it. At those speeds and proximity, Edwards and Rossi could do nothing about it, I doubt Rossi even knew it was happening until the impact as he would have been unsighted and focussing on passing Edwards.
A very unfortunate freak accident. Last edited by flymo; 24-10-11 at 09:11 AM. |
