I've found another post about putting grease around the plug- would spray on grease be robust enough? I've got a can sitting around and a quick squirt of WD40 at the start of the journey doesn't seem to be doing it- no cash until next week to buy more 'solutions' and plenty of rain due in the meantime!

Mind you- I think my problem is going to be fixed when the reg/rec is replaced on Friday- the cylinder is dropping out around 4K rpm- about where the voltage is dropping. The bike has ridden in rain/sleet/having been covered in snow without problems. Though the rain wasn't as heavy as we've had the last week.]
