While the liberalists on this thread are openly condemning the way in which the media have portrayed this event, I should think that in response to this attack, there has been a great deal of investigation going on into the background of these events by all agencies - Police obtaining contacts/movements/anpr info etc.

Despite the sensationalist style of Journos these days, I think that it would be very dangerous of them to talk about this being a terror attack without any such idea of foundation.

Just because the British public dont know about it, it doesnt mean that it doesnt exist.

In response to peoples criticisms over the "targetting" of certain groups, these attacks and those previous have obviously created a profile of the individuals involved. If a rapist or a murderer was said to be a a White man in his 20s, its unlikely that any black or asian men of elder years would be stopped as targets would they? The situation has to be dealt with carefully but I dont think its any way xenophobic to say that the minority communities are now being greater scrutinised by the public/police/other agencies who only have these fanatics to thank for that.

The concern is that escalation in these incidents result in civil unrest in areas where the tensions are already in the balance.

There is another reason why a so called suicide bomber should be stopped:- to those involved in this fanatacism, becoming a martyr is everything. They genuinely believe that once they have shuffled off this mortal coil, their family and friends will hold them in such high esteem and that Allah will reward them for eternity.

If you can keep them alive, then they will have FAILED in their attempts to become a HERO MARTYR.

This would actually work, as the whole thing about being a martyr is dying for the cause. Personally, I think that them NOT acheiving their aims (blowing up a lot of people) would result in a "dishonourable" death, and therefore not matyrdome.

Also, it'd prevent the over-flowing prison problem, without risk of them re-offending.

Can we apply the same punishment for drink/drug drivers too? And lets not forget those speaking on mobile phones whilst driving!!

Of course it's xenophopic. If a white 20yo male accused of murder is on the run, you don't expect the thousands of 20yo white men in this country to suddenly become suspects. And you certainly don't expect to have armed police storm into the home a random innocent white males house before shooting them. That's not creating a profile, thats guessing - and not a very good guess at that.

The only reason the police got away with shooting an innocent man half asleep in his boxers in his own home was because he wasn't white.
