Loris Capirossi posted the best race lap time of 1'58.17 on Sunday.

On his first tootle on the new GP7 he managed a best lap of 1'59.60.

Can someone remind me again the reasons for reducing engine capacity? Safety due to speed related matters? B*llox!

It's to make the bikes almost unrideable again like the old 500's - sort the men from the boys

Thought PH would be over the moon

Top ride by Loris though...did really well...I thought some of Pedrosa's moves were just plain dangerous...isn't there a rule for these sort of things?

The 800's were to stop the 1 litres as they were going to go faster in the future...not the current speeds as such.

HOT OFF THE PRESS!

Ducati Moto GP boss Livio Suppo who has proclaimed being a fan of James Toseland, wants the Brit rider as part of the new look D'Antin satellite team for next season. His dream pairing is JT and everyone's favourite drama Queen...Max Biaggi on board the new 800cc bikes.

Nice bit of grooming for James if all goes well with him to take over from Loris for 2008 season? Perhaps at long last a true contender for all British bike fans in the blue riband class?

I have to say that this bit of news I find very exciting.

I read that in MCN earlier.

How well financed is the D'antin team going to be this year ? I remember Hodgson saying that they could afford thing like tyre heaters that worked and stuff the year he rode for them.

I'm guessing if Pramac are involved it should be well financed.

Peter, I guess you are happy that Sete is staying with Ducati for next year ?

Fizz..I don't think there will be any worries with the financial side for the D'Antin team and certainly Max will bring big sponsorships bucks.

You know this might be me being just too big hearted but based on watching Sete on the Ducati from the first minute of FP1 right to that unbelieveable break down in the race at Jerez. That guy can ride that Ducati no question. He has had wretched luck and I do hope he can show what he can do. I think he can still ruffle a feather or two this season especially when races remain in Portugal,Japan and back here in Valencia.

Sete is STILL one of the fastest riders out there and it is a shame that his skill does not have as wide an audience as I personally believe it deserves.

I think his devlopment input will be vital to Ducati also.

Before JT even THINKS about signing for D'Antin he needs to (assuming it's not just for a nice fat paycheque) get in writing (preferably using as ink the blood of Livio Suppo) exactly what level of support / machinery (chassis, engine etc) will be made available to the team by Ducati for the next 2 years.

Otherwise he could well end up like other Brits - just making up the grid numbers with no chance of showing his talent.

Personally I'd rather see him on a Honda or Yamaha - but that's probably just due to my bias against anything red with 2 wheels that comes out of Bologna !! :P

Super..I hear where your coming frombut we are not talking the same guy who screwed JT around in WSB. That was a disgrace. This is the best shot a Brit has been given in a long time.

The advantage of the new 800cc is that a manufacturer who gets it right from the first whistle has a huge advantage.

If that is Ducati then lets see.

But can also include Suzuki and Kwak in this.

Max Biaggi would be a plum choice for MotoGP future riding. Certainly has the talent and experience...
