I had intended to run early this morning but it was already too warm for Mabel by 6.15am so we had a short, 2.5 mile walk instead. I have a social(ly distanced) run with a couple of other canicrossers in Dyfnant forest on Saturday morning. Hopefully it'll be a more comfortable running temperature by then. Re: The running thread.
Much as I enjoy the warm weather, it has stopped me from running. Saturday looks like being a more comfortable temperature for running with dogs.

Re: The running thread.
Having recently taken my road bike out of long term hibernation, basically after cyclists were discussed on here - it'd been hung on the garage wall for 9 years!
I've switched to cycling to work a few days a week, about 20 miles each way, as it's way too hot by the time I get home to think about running. Last week I did the commute twice, this week 3 times including today. I'm actually really loving it - ok maybe not the 5.30am start. Oh yeah I shouldn't have mentioned that on this forum. Shhhhh pretend it never happened.

Re: The running thread.
Great social(ly distanced) run of just under nine miles this morning. Managed to avoid the worst of the rain. The run was on trails in Dyfnant forest in all their muddy, rocky, hilly, technical glory. Definitely worth revisiting!

Re: The running thread.
Quick dash round my local loop with a couple of stops to chat with friends and neighbours!
Much needed after two days spent staring at IT jobs. |

Re: The running thread.
So, last weekend I was supposed to be running 100km along the ridgeway for the Race to the Stones, but it was cancelled for some reason! I signed up for the virtual Race to the Stones (marathon distance) which gives you a week to complete, and is much more realistci, given my current level of fitness.
27.7 miles done this week, which is a bit of a step-up from the 6.9 miles last week, or 7.6 miles the week before. I was pleasantly surprised how well I coped with running 5 days out of 7 - it really goes to show that I have more to give, and a lot of it is in the mind. That said, I’m taking a week off! I hope everyone else is getting out and staying fit and uninjured. |

I know what you mean about it being all in the mind. Been really lacking in motivation lately, need more social runs and events to get me fired up I think. Anyway, out for the first time in two weeks this evening for a quick scuttle around my local short loop. Considering I haven't run for a fortnight, and given the terrain, I was quite surprised at my time. Looking at the splits I'm pretty happy with my effort. |
