Hmm Drew, is the the drop-out (bit of frame the axle sits in) or the dérailleur hanger (sticky down bit dérailleur is bolted to) that is damaged? Replaceable dérailleur hangers often bolt to/over the dropout. I see replaceable hangers on the decathlon website...

Its the hanger I believe. The bit that hangs down from the frame for which the derraileur is attached to. It is kept against the frame by the QR.

Our guide in France had a Nicolai, the replacement dropout for that was 55 euros IIRC, and he had to wait 3 weeks for them to make him one

Doh! Just been into the Thurrock Decathlon, so I could have checked if they had one in stock.

But then I've only just seen this Just how my days gone!

Still tempted by one of their MTB's, price is ok for the spec
