Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
When I was in design office we had some American customers come over to UK to visit us. Smoking was banned in the building, but people could smoke in carpark. When one of the Americans headed for the door his mate asked where he was going, he said with a straight face 'just going to carpark to suck on a fag'....

Throwing lit ciggies out the car window is just irresponsible imo, the potential fire hazard is probably the most concerning especially this time of year where everything is bone dry. If you get caught doing it in Spain... instant €1000 euro fine plus b&b... courtesy of the Spanish plod.
If you must smoke in the car get one of those car specific safety ashtray thingymabobs. I've seen them in the States but don't know where you would get one over here. Halfords may sell them .... they love to offload piles of useless c@$p that no-one wants or needs! |

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
i have never even given milk content a thought before until i read the label today.
5g yes a teaspoon full of sugar in every 100ml so in a pint of milk there is roughly 25.5g or 5.5 teaspoons of sugar. most beers have less sugar. so my diabetes nurse says to cut down on the beer intake but has never ever mentioned milk. |

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
New GOTD: In a management meeting at work discussing resourcing of work throughout the team, trying to share out too may projects, to hear the senior manager declare "we've just go to accept that we'll all be under pressure because of the workload".
No, how about the company accept we are under resourced for what it wants us to do and lift the recruitment freeze or reduce the job requirements! Why is it our problem that they have defined our job role/procedure/activities yet somehow it's our fault when we tell them we're not set up to cope with a significant, enduring overload situation? So we'll end up taking too much on, not be able to deliver it all to expectations (no overtime), get routine grief about progress from now on and then get "partially achieved" at end of year performance review. Good job no-one's thinking there'll be bonuses or pay rises any time soon. Some days I hate with a passion the HR-led ideology that pervades large organisations. My suggestion to get rid of some of HR and replace that headcount with more direct practitioners didn't go down too well.

It's the alcohol in beer that stuffs your body up and makes fat... https://www.menshealth.com/uk/weight...ou-fat-323945/ Lactose or 'milk sugar' is a 'good' sugar ( not the nutritionally empty white sugar added to food by the bucketload ), the protein and fat in milk reduce the rate that sugar is absorbed, making it easier for the body to handle, especially with diabetes - it is low GI and does not 'spike' blood sugar.

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
just tried Almond milk, think it needs watered down though a its a bit thick.. i like it. big test will be my coffee in the morning. might have a cuppa t in a while to see how that goes.
ooohhh and it comes in cartons not plastic bottles which is another big plus in my book. why cant all milk come in cartons? i dont know why i'm worrying as i only drink about 1lt of milk every 2-3 days. |

It's only this year they've realised that and are starting to sign off on large headcount increases across the company. |
