Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
No, I was not impressed. I will leave them sleeping next time, so they fail the course. Then perhaps they'll get the message.
Tonight would have been fine, as they would only need to dive home.

You have to be some kind of crazy to burgal a house with people in where guns are owned by Joe public!

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
I've seen one. They are mean as all heck and we don't get on well. Now I like that idea! Quote:
Likely a crack addict these days. If so there will be more, till he gets killed or caught. Once they get started they usually can't stop. Probably some lad I know, it's a rural area. Been two like in the last 10 or 15 years from this area. Both of them are now serving long prison sentences for drugs, theft, etc and even they were smart enough to do it when no one was at home. This one's exceptionally crazy to break in at night while people are at home sleeping. Especially in an area such as this where everyone really does have guns. Hope he'll not come to mine but should he, Nothing says feck off quite as permanently as a 12 guage at close range.

Bill, what's the law like in your state with regards shooting a burglar?

They have to be 'inside and posing a threat' however the threat part is seldom questioned as long as the person believes their life was in danger and it's not obvious the intruder was executed while trying to surrender. They do tend to frown multiple shots to the back but there have been cases where children and old ladies freaked out and chased the perpetrator firing at them as they were fleeing and its overlooked, again as long as the shooter feels their life was in danger. Once when there was an escaped convict In the area (who had killed several people while escaping) I was advised by police to "shoot them through the door, drag them inside and shoot them again." if they showed up . Really!!!

They missed the bit about wiping down the inside of the door to remove the powder and debris. Then again, maybe they wouldn't look too hard for it.

The first was a warning shot officer, and he still came through the door! I mean, what else could I have done?
