Old cameras
Hello all,
I'm into my photography, both film and digital. I have a few cameras which I have purchased over the past year or two. I brought this last weekend, and I've shown everyone because I'm a bit of a geek and I like to hope at least some people care! As they go, this isn't a particularly old camera, its a 1978 Nikon F2AS. It has the DP12 metered Photomic viewfinder. I also got two lenses, a 24 mm and 50 mm, cable release, detachable bayonet mount/flashgun hood and the original strap and manuals, for £40. I have a film in it at the moment, so no results as yet. Reputed as the 'best' fully manual Professional camera made before Nikon stopped the 'F' line. I've heard people say things like 'bang nails in with that thing', and i could believe them as it weighs in at about 1200 grams with lens. They took these to the Moon with them, as well as Hasselblads. I'm dead happy with it, and wanted to share it with the org as I should think that some of the members are younger than it enjoy... 'Grays of Westminster' value the camera BODY on its own (excellent condition) at £399! Bargain me thinks Ben. Last edited by BournemouthBen; 17-07-09 at 03:00 PM. |

Re: Old cameras
Sweet! That's a beauty!
I have a really old plate camera I still use, it takes five by four INCH film sheets. It belonged to my Great Grandpa and you have to mount it on a tripod and look at the image on a ground glass screen, under a dark hood! Takes about ten minutes to set up and take one pic, but the quality is astounding. Pete

Re: Old cameras
Put some Velvia through it. You know you want to. I just shot a roll with my F100 and I still can't believe the colour saturation on that thing!
Oh, and IIRC Nikon hasn't stopped the "F" line, they still manufacture and sell the F6 |

Re: Old cameras
I had a pentax ME super that was ace, yours would knock that into touch for sure - lovely bit of kit. All the switch gear on those is uber clicky - so satifying.
But above all that - that camera is TRICK taking pictures of itself - thats properly impressive |
