AL7 brake pistons = stainless
I decided to clean & grease the calipers on my 2017 AL7 this arvo, and made the happy discovery that someone at Suzuki had asked Tokico very politely, and they fitted stainless pistons all round. Nice to know.

Re: AL7 brake pistons = stainless
As my AL8 will be (slightly) used all year that is indeed nice to know, although clearly I am making the rash assumption of it sharing this detail with its immediate predecessor

Re: AL7 brake pistons = stainless
unfortunately in my experience its not the pistons that go first but the caliper body corroding behind the seals so that they squeeze the piston and give the famous harder brake lever but also non-releasing brakes....

Re: AL7 brake pistons = stainless
I wonder when someone is going to show up with an AL9 with the new four piston brakes. It's only taken Suzuki 20 years...
...I guess they don't want to rush into things or maybe they've finally exhausted old stock. |

Re: AL7 brake pistons = stainless
Hi Seeker this may well be me as I'm due to collect this week a new shiny AL9 all being well. Just have to negotiate dad to hospital for check up after that should be good Wednesday/ Thursday.
Oh and small matter of Scottish weather all being well have 50-60 mile return trip from Cupar to my house. If weather is good many detours are available, cos I'm a lightweight and only ride in dry these days with mildly arthritic back and knee from falling of a Puch 50 when I was about 11 and busting my knee then Sorry should just my knee back was car accident well after knee. Re: AL7 brake pistons = stainless
On my first SV all the pistons had to be scrapped due to corrosion under the chrome plate. The affected parts were near the end, where they're exposed as the pad wear down.
