Harpic Max Power toilet cleaner, a quid from Tesco. Paint it on with a brush, leave for 5 minutes, rinse off & polish. Job's a good 'un.

Edited to add, it's this stuff: http://www.harpic.co.uk/products/toi...ners-original/

My header is clean because I don't have a social life and I polish it relentlessly with Solvol. If you want a social life I recommend you don't keep your header shiny.

I think stainless steel is an oxymoron.

Why we can't have exhausts covered in that toxic heavy metal chromium, I just don't know /s

From what I remember of chrome it got pitted and the steel underneath went rusty, give me SS any time.

aren't fork stanchions chromed?
I've owned 6 bikes with chrome exhausts without any pitting problems. I assumed they stopped using it widely because it's a nasty polluter.

I think slidy bit of forks is probably hard chromed, I remember too many car bumpers that went rusty.
