So I'd bought a 2nd hand one with a continuous ink system, as my wife and daughters are using it a lot for their Uni and school work. I'd had something similar before, and it was great, lasted at least 4 years before the printer word out, and I still had ink left, despite kids printing this and that in full colour.

This replacement was supposed to be nearly new, went through the fact of installing all the drivers and CIS ink tanks. But it's got the Epson two red lights of death, which mean stripping it down to clean a sensor, so my Google search told me. I'd been sold a pup

FFS. No more faffing, ordered a new printer, with an inbuilt CIS tank, at least I've got ink to refill the ink tanks.
ahhh the inkjet con.

i went laser years ago... i have done 1000's of copys and the red light just came on the other day but it still prints perfect, unlike bloody inkjet. plus laser toner is more waterproof.

Yep, I'd had a 2nd hand laser before this current cheap cannon ****e, that lasted a while before it started playing up.

Trouble is, the latest con is to ship laser printers with a test toner cartridge so you only get a hundred or so prints before you need to buy a new set, and they're flippin expensive.

The replacement CIS one cost £155 with 2 years worth of ink, and like I said I've got genuine ink to refill the ink tanks, so hopefully it'll last for 2 years & then I'll throw it away for a newer model. By then wife will have finished her studies & the other 2 will have finished school & uni.

This printing lark is a big con

I'll keeping on looking for a good deal on a colour laser printer, as it was better than an inkjet for most stuff.

I bought a laptop a while back from a friend who works oncomputers, really cheap because it has a fake version of windows he put on it.
So windows quits working and I ask him if he will take a look at at and he says sure we're friends I'll fix it for free.
That was over two weeks ago.
Now he says he is busy and will probably be after Christmas.
Thanks friend, I'd rather have paid to have it fixed than go a month or more without it but no one else is going to fool with his fake version of windows so live and learn I guess.

Weather forecasters.
Calling for snow over the coming weekend.
Local weatherman says it could be anywhere from nothing to 21 inches.
Nothing like a safe margin of error.
I could make closer predictions using a dartboard.

It might depend on the exact position of a weather front. Where warm air meets cold it might dump 21", but a few miles away there will be no snow at all. Not easy to predict even using your magic dartboard...

...or maybe your local weatherman is just rubbish.

I think forecasters are all afraid to commit since Michael Fish went down in history in the 80's... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qi1a5Tbw77E

Prepping for Snowmageddon, we'll probably get 3 inches.
Forecasts still all over the place for tomorrow's storm.
3 to 14 inches depending on which forecast you like.

I think you guys in Canada are better equipped to deal with snow than we are. Our trains can't cope with a few leaves on the line.
