You could probably get a multimeter from Maplin for a tenner, get the cheapest one, it will be fine and last a while, you will use it lots of times.

You could always use a 12v bulb and a couple of bits of wire if you don’t have a meter, you just need to see whether there is a signal or not. Another way would be to find the first connector block after the switch and use a little bit of wire to connect the black wire to the green one, if the problem swaps sides then the switch is at fault.

I had my right indicator go and the wires had rubbed on the fairing and failed over the years.. took the little black cover off from rhs of the binnacle and the problem was clear.
My two penneth.

... but in this case the hazard lights still work both sides, so the wiring must be okay to the luminaire, don’t you think?

Well lad. I honestly don't understand the terminolgy of binnacle. I know rhs is right hand side that's it

"Binnacle"---The bodywork that surrounds the instrument cluster. Its a nautical term for the housing around a ships compass.

Did a it of a sand with a fine sanding lad fix it up for you? I got as far as opening up he control unit and checking he switch and it looks fine and slides quite smoothly . I'll have out had part tomorrow evening and see if corroded. Cheers
