Default New job = no more biking :(

I've managed to get myself a really well paid contract in Milton Keynes. It's a great opportunity which will have me debt free in a matter of months and able to buy a big family house within 2 years with barely a mortgage on it.

The sad news is it means I'm going to have to sell my bike and buy a diesel car to do the 300+ miles each Monday and Friday. I'm totally gutted as I've only had my gixxer for a few months, and am just about to have my first anniversary of passing my CBT. I can't justify keeping the bike on the driveway all week and I'm unlikely to get chance to ride at weekends if I've not seen wife and child all week.

While I know it makes all the sense in the world, I'm a very sad man today.

The only plus is I've made a deal with the wife that when I get back for good I can buy any bike I want. Still, that's likely to be a good two years....

Bad news to hear your having to sell the bike mate, but Great news that you have a super duper new job.

Congrats!

Congrats mate!!!

2 years of hard graft to have almost no debt will be worth it!
Good luck

Been there, done that, lived in Glasgow but worked in London / Oxford, driving it was hellish.
Could you not take the bike down to Milton Keynes and fly home at the weekends? Better still get a hack to leave at the home airport, you generally don't pay for bike parking at airports. At least you didn't have to.

Oh and congrats with the new job.

congratz on the job. 2 years is not long and is well worth the sacrifice. anyone in their right mind would do the exact same thing. just think of the bike you will get after the wait.

Congrats, ESP in this climate of redundancies and unemployment.

2 years will fly by!

Don't be hasty!

Can't you have the bike in Milton Keynes for weekday evening fun? You won't be having family time then so it'd be something to do. You CAN have your cake and eat it!

The man speaks sense!!
Even if you're living in rented digs etc you can still hire a garage somewhere local where you could store it. GO ON YOU KNOW IT MAKES SENSE!

Oh and MEGA CONGRATULATIONS on the work, hope you enjoy.
