The fuel cell now has holes in either side and the bar runs through these, with a set of top hat spacers for alignment, and all will be welded together so the riders weight is carried by the bar and the frame.

Tell me more about the oil cooler you're going to be using and the fairing mounts please?
Oil cooler is a 13 row 135mm Mocal oil cooler that's going to be mounted in the fairing nose using what was the ram air intake on the BMW fairing to duct air onto it.

This is a Phase 1 endurance classic race bike that's got a similar set up....

Not a lot to say about the fairing mounts - the nylon bosses bolt to the inside of the fairing. You machine an ally boss from 5083 that the nylon boss slides inside and the R-clip retains. You weld the ally boss to the frame.

That cooler looks very nice and thanks for the info on the fairing mounts.

One more thing, not sure if you've posted this already and I've missed it but are you going to be using Carbs or Fuel Injection?

Aye but the riders weight will act rearward of that point so it will act as a pivot pulling the tank front mounts upwards. I'd beef them up a bit.

How can it act as a pivot when the steel bar is bolted rigidly to the frame?

I'm not saying it will swing like a hinge but with many impacts like your *rse hitting the seat after big bumps I wouldn't trust friction to hold it in place so well.

The reason I stress the point is those front mounts on the tank can crack, even if someone just forgot to put the rubber bumpers on the bottom of the tank.

It might be no problem at all in practice.

If my **** is large enought to overcome the clamping force generated by 2 M10 bolts torqued to 120Nm (in the region of 4t of force) then I need to cut back on the pies.......

Hehehe.

I dunno, stick a bar on it and see how much torque it takes to make it slip. You could also roughen the ends of the steel bar so they take a bite into the ally.

I reckon if you can't make it slip with a 3' bar then it will be right. Highly scientific, obviously
