Pointy rear engine bolt
I cant get the rear lower engine bolt out of a K7 pointy, its stuck fast, its the last one to come out as recommended in the manuals. Lock washer is off & the nut is off on the right side but I cant shift it. Are there any clamp bolts or anything not mentioned in the manual, does it unscrew or should it just slide out? Ive soaked it in penetrating oil but it just wont budge. Any ideas?
Thanks

Re: Pointy rear engine bolt
I don't know the bolt but have you tried tightening it a little first to try and crack the possible corrosion seal it may have made?

Re: Pointy rear engine bolt
Yes I tried that, warmed it up, soaked it with penetrating oil but it is stuck fast.

Re: Pointy rear engine bolt
I think i have identified it but all it shows is a long bolt with a thread on the end. I dont know if it threads into the frame (unlikely) with a nut on the end as extra security or if it goes straight through the frame with just the nut on the threaded part of the bolt. Either way it is tight as tight can be. I guess that it is corrosion between metal bolt & ali engine casing or frame

Re: Pointy rear engine bolt
You seem to have tried most things.I've used a homemade release fluid before using 50/50 Acetone and Brake fluid instead of ATF,
http://www.instructables.com/id/Home...netrating-oil/ I also have one of these, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Refillable...wAAOSwxw1ZsZ0U Which are fantastic for very directional heat application. Also some other posts http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=150364 http://www.svrider.com/forum/showthread.php?t=340162 http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/fo...=266178&page=2

Re: Pointy rear engine bolt
if its the last bolt to come out, you sure its not just all the engine weight keeping it stuck fast?
try man handling the engine abit while trying to drift it out, put the nut back on the threaded side a couple of turns and smack it with a hammer+bit of wood. (or a soft hammer if you have one) |

Re: Pointy rear engine bolt
Hi
I have tried moving the engine about & it is just the same what ever position it is I am convinced that the bolt is corroded in. I haven't tried drifting it yet as I am not sure if the bolt screws into the frame (I doubt it) or if it just slides through the frame, do you know either way? Thanks Quote:

Re: Pointy rear engine bolt
have you supported the weight of the engine using a jack?
