Default Induction vs electric ceramic hob

Mrs Clumsy here has dropped another jar out of the cupboard and onto my ceramic hob so it works but is so chipped and cracked I think I'll buy myself a new one for Christmas - after all, as I told Santa, I've been a very good girl this year

I definitely need a stainless steel frame so I don't smash another one.

I just bought a Neff oven but don't mind if they don't match.

So is an induction hob the way to go?

And how can I tell if my existing pans will work on it?

Any recommendations?

And is there one that boils bunnies particularly well?

Can't recommend any but my sister a new kitchen fitted and had an induction hob fitted

Seems to be the way to go, take the pan off & it stops cooking

Although most ponsey chefs still use gas

Gas.

Electric oven is best but I've never found any sort of electric hob that was as easy to cook on as a gas one.

No gas supply to my road so I have storage heaters, an immersion for the water and electric oven.

I've an induction work top and if you can't have gas it's the next best thing. I had to buy some new pots to go with it mind, I think one of my old ones worked, but as the majority were 5 years old and the most basic/cheapest I could get from Ikea it was no great loss.

Best thing is it's so easy to clean

Then in that case my cool (fridgey) friend you haven't tried induction.

LPH - aluminium pans don't work on induction as induction works on magnetism. We had the kitchen refitted and the gas man put the pipe in the wrong place, told us that if we wanted a gas hob it would be another £1K to dig up the concrete floor - er no to more money and no to more mess, so I went and bought an induction hob, meaning new pans.

The hob is fantastic, more responsive than gas, and wipe clean - no wretched pan supports making life awkward. Takes a bit of getting used to, but no going back.

Ours is Hotpoint.

Give me a few mins and I'll go take a piccy.

Whoever would have thought I'd endorse household durables on here

Here it is:

It has low energy consumption, as it doesn't work on producing heat in the hob, the heat is produced in the pan. The surface gets hot from reflected heat, not from heat generated in the hob. Easy to clean and uber-controllable, it really is fantastic.

Can't beat gas. On / off and anywhere in between with no wait and you know when it's on and doing the work.

Were a pair of oldies who don't like change BUT we changed to an induction hob last year, we still say "I don't beleive it". You must have correct cookware but the speed IS very similar to gas and instantanious. Also found to be safe with the grandchildren as it wont produce heat untill a pan is placed on the surface.
