Sony... or not?
Following on from this thread, and bearing in mind the fact that I can't remember ever starting a poll, I wondered if the good folks of the Org would answer a simple question for me.
You are shopping for a new piece of electronic 'stuff'. You may choose between a Sony, or any other brand (excluding the wildly esoteric or expensive - let's not go comparing B&O or Harman-Kardon with Goodmans). Which is it, and why? BTW, I promise this won't be the start of an 'a-la-Hovis' poll obsession |

Re: Sony... or not?
Not voting as that's a bit like saying "Do you prefer Fords, or anything else?" ...
I mean, I'd rather have a Ford GT-40 than an Audi A4 ... but then again, I'd rather have an Audi R8 than a Ford Mondeo What I'm saying is, Sony DO make some good stuff (some of their Bravia TV's look excellent!), and they also (no doubt) make some rubbish stuff ... Horses for courses. |

Warfdale have been very good, but I agree, it's always a matter of personal preference coz there are soooooo many to choose from! Buy 'Which?'

+1 for that...got my dads Arcam stuff from the early 90's - cost a fortune back then, but I cant find anything to touch it... I quite like Sony stuff...IMO its a bit like a Honda...good build quality, you know what you are gonna get, but a bit overpriced, and if you look around, there are generally better options available...I suppose I would say buying Sony is a "safe bet"....and nowt wrong with that... Are you looking for something specific? |

Re: Sony... or not?
I love Sony, always bought it and all my electro stuff/laptop/phone is Sony. Does what it says on the tin and I've dropped and stepped on my latop quite a few times.
