Default Drift HD Video Cam

Guys.

First attempt with a video camera.

This is seven minutes of footage to try out the camera in different locations.

Constructive criticisms welcome

Agree wind noise when on front, do prefer the camera forward facing.

Not keen on placement on pannier,

Have to admit the image quality was good.

I prefer the Front facing wing mirror view, even with the wind noise.

The rear view is weird, and the pannier view loses too much of the the nice view!!

Default Drift HD Video Cam

I like the front facing one best. Great quality!
Was there any audio cos I didn't hear any.
Doesn't look like a bank breaker so I'll save up for one before my big trip this year.

Talking Re: Drift HD Video Cam

1. Front view from wing mirror best

2. Turn all sound off - wind noise is crap at all speeds

3. Rear view made me feel sea-sick

4. Excellent quality video and nice editing

5. Where's the best place to get Drift HD from???

Yes there was audio and it seems to work with others looking at the responses Think the problem might be at your end.

Stick some sponge over the mic it can lessen the noise. Bike noise is good, worth having on a video. People on youtube moan when they can't hear the bike!
The quality is fine
Enjoy filming is fun!

Welcome to the Drift Club! There are a few of us on here who have used them to do the same sort of thing. I even did a review of the Camera. That's great value for £119. You may already know but you can adjust the sensitivity of the mic. It can get overwhelmed over a certain DB, which causes the wind noise to sound amplified. As someone mentioned, you can get a good foam cap to reduce this and then strategically place the mic to reduce it even further. I've managed to extract good bike audio in one or two of my vids but in most cases the wind noise is just annoying.

Edit: Ah, I believe your model doesn't come with the external mic! Which makes the wind noise even worse. I have a 1080, which has better sound. The new one is improved again I think.

Edit Edit: I quite like the pannier view actually. It shows your inputs and planning, which offers a different POV from the standard helmet or forward mounted cam.
