Default Ford Puma 1.7 W reg (Y2K) for sale

Hi all,

I've decided to sell my car as I just don't use it much and figured I might as well sell it before it depreciates any further.

My Dad bought it in about 6 or 7 years ago as a low mileage, one owner vehicle. He sold it to me last year and it has done around 83,000 miles in total.

Silver in colour, 1.7 petrol engine, 5 speed manual gearbox, air-conditioning, electric windows, heated front windscreen, no crashes / dents / scratches or anything. Alloy wheels, electric mirrors, CD player, good interior, drives really well. Never broken down or missed a beat since we've had it. Full Ford service history up to last year with loads of receipts.

Couple of bad things. A stone hit the windscreen on the passenger side a couple of months back causing a chip. I've not got it covered under my insurance and it hasn't spread or bothered me so I haven't done anything about it. I know if you have insurance that covers windscreens you can get it replaced for £75 or something. There's a little bit of rust appearing on the bottom of both doors in the rear corners. Again this hasn't bothered me so haven't done anything about it. MOT is only til October but the reason I am selling now is my insurance is up at the same time and I don't want to have to renew it again. Think the tax is til the end of October too. Also, one of the lugs on the rear parcel shelf is loose so the shelf sags slightly - I could probably fix this but haven't got round to it (prefer spending time playing with the bike!)

Will post some pics later. Looking for £1800o.v.n.o which seems to be a fair price for the age, mileage and condition when comparing to other vehicles on the Autotrader.

Located in central Birmingham. No tyre kickers but you can certainly have a test drive if you're interested!

Cheers,
Matt

I am bumping this up and hoping someone can make me an offer for it - I need to sell it to raise the cash to fix my bike now!

Now looking for £1500ish as that should see my bike back on the road and a little bit left over hopefully.

Anyone want a cheap reliable car?

Please?!

Cheers,
Matt

How is the bike damage looking Matt? I didn't think you quite needed that much from when you posted before? Was there more hidden you didn't know about?

My first accident involved a ford puma

Anyway, good luck in selling the car. My next door neighbour has had one for years and years, never seems to have any problems with it

Erm, not good mate. The latest list is as follows;

New front fairing
New tail unit (it is one piece)
New RHS fairing + infill panel
New Right footpeg / gear lever
New exhaust
New mirrors (both)
New something or other in the tail unit that's fallen off - don't know what it is yet!
New tank
New plastic cover for front of tank
New right clip-on
New engine casing
New RHS rear indicator
New pillion pod

Obviously this is to put it back 100% and I could get away with less just to have it back working. I'm going to be buying parts 2nd hand as and when. I'm going to have to tell the guy on gixerjunkies that I can't have his K8 bits as it sounds like too much hassle to try swapping that lot over - it would be nice to have a K7.5 but apparently it is a different rear subframe and I just can't see it being very easy!

I have no doubt that an insurance company would Cat D it .

EDIT: Actually, it's not rideable - that's a Cat C isn't it?

I think C & D relate to something about the cost of repair. I'm not 100% sure if there is an actual "official description" but the ones I've always seen (apart from other people saying it) are:
Cat C - cost of repair higher than 75% cost of vehicle (actually I've seen that % change so I'm not sure these are "official" at all!)
Cat D - economical to repair but insurer "didn't want to" (!)

Anyway yeah I'd leave those K8 bits if it needs a new subframe - otherwise, I'd go for it. I forgot to post on that thread but I think it is a different subframe - reason being, the seat cowl is different, it has a different design underneath for attaching to the frame, I'm thinking that means the subframe is different.

I reckon you need to add a few things to your list

Engine sliders
Race bodywork

That's actually half serious, it will save you a lot if it happens again

Yes of course I keep getting mixed up between gear / brake and clutch lever! Maybe that was my problem?!

I have thought that, some bits are badly cracked but may be able to be taped or plastic welded together. I need to take them off to see what the mountings are like as some may be shagged. Going to leave it til the weekend though!
