Default Safe to leave luggage on bike on ferry?

I'm taking my sv on a cross channel ferry for the first time tomorrow.
Is it safe to leave your luggage on it during the journey, when it's down there strapped to the deck?

Put everything of value; money, camera, documents etc, in your tank bag take that with you, everything else will be fine.

It would just be a stuffsack with clothes, a tent, and a sleeping mat.
Nothing valuable, but still stuff I couldn't do without.

My advice, don't leave anything on your bike. It may not cost much to replace certain items but it may be a day wasted going shopping when you could be riding.

I fitted the waterproof covers on my luggage - not so easy to just quickly unzip the pockets - not that anyone would want my underwear anyway! All vaulables were in my tankbag that I took with me...
