doesnt glow oin the dark stuff contain some sort of radioactive chemical....and you want to put it near your head?

I think that is a bit ambitious but still, it glows.

No. "Glow in the dark" has been used in kids' toys/crayons etc for ages. It's phosphors, or at least man made chemicals which behave like phosphors. The phosphor is energised by light and radiates simple visible light.

I believe there are versions, like in watches, that use a radioactive element to energise the phosphor so it does not need to be exposed to light to "charge", but it's harmless.

It's a subtance called Tritium, inside a phosphorescent compound coated vial. Very cool
