My predictions for London in 2012:
1. There will be a blanket speed limit of 20mph, enforced by in-car satellite tracking speed limiters. Naturally, lots of people will have theirs chipped. 2. Petrol will be £5 a litre. No, make that 10 euros a litre. 3. The average London house will cost £2,000,000 (4 million euros). 4. Our public transport infrastructure will have crumbled due to lack of investment, management incompetence and staff laziness. 5. We will have a half finished olympic stadium that is already 5 times over budget. 6. South and East London will be no-go areas, ruled by gangs of armed chavs. 7. The police won't care about no. 6, because they'll be focusing all of their resources on catching anyone driving at over the aforementioned 20mph speed limit. 8. Parking anywhere in London will be 50 euros a minute, limited to 20 minutes and enforced by armed parking attendants. 9. Lord Livingstone will have expanded the congestion charging area to cover everywhere inside (& including) the M25. It will cost 50 euros a day. 10. Beer will cost 10 euros for a half litre (no more pints). You will have to present your biometric ID card (linked to a national DNA database) to get served. |
