Rear brake caliper pin

I tried to remove the rear brake discs over the weekend, but stopped a bit short by the pin.

Probably seems like a bit of a stupid question but do the rear pins from K3 onwards simply screw out using an allen key? I was about to give it a goe bu tthough a bit wiser to ask the question first before I end up breaking something...

I've seen alot of threads and advise about drilling holes etc...does this apply too the older models ony?..

I take it you mean brake pads? Not sure about a K3 rear caliper. If they are the same as the earlier models, then no, they will probably be siezed in the caliper for sure. Try getting a set of locking molegrips on the pin between the pads and giving them a wiggle! Try some penertrating oil in there as well

Mole grips, heat, wd40. wiggle lots. bash with hammer. wiggle, wd40, wiggle, swaer, wiggle, contemplate cutting them, wiggle some more, keep going for 2 hours and they'll come out.

And then lashings of copper grease when it goes back in again.

Was quite chuffed on the weekend as I had to replace rear brake pads- last serviced the caliper in Jan, pins came out with no bother.

While your at it, replace the dust seals and put on copious amounts of red brubber grease on the pistons (take them out and clean the whole caliper up).

If you havnt already, do the same with the front calipers.

Why would you replace the dust seals and not just have a gander and see if they need it?

thats true...but if mine were anything to go by, they could be stretched a bit by now and a bit crappy.

Boil them in water. You can get lucky and they spring back into shape. However, a slighty saggy dust seal won't do that much harm if the rest of the caliper is serviced properly.
