d220 tyre life
my d220's are finished both front & rear are on tyre wear marks after 5400 miles , to be honest for such a hard tyre the life is not good .
Going for Z6's next , used to get 6k out of them on a 750 , so should last well on the sv Got quoted 174 quid for a pair ride in & ride out from Wheelhouse tyres B'ham do u recon thats a fair price ? Also very tempted to fit some Pirelli Diablos for the summer , however I guess you would only get about 4k out of a rear ? Cheers Steve

You got more out of your D220's than me, i had to change mine at 4,500 miles.
Not a bad price for the Z6's I paid about the same about 3000 miles ago, and they are still looking in good shape. |

Still on my stock D220's after 5700 miles and they've still got loads of tread left and not that squared off. Am looking to replace them with better rubber cos they only grip in the summer.

I had recommendation from the tyre guy that the SV causes a lot more tyre wear/damage if you open the throttle hard, especially from standing. He reckoned that the reason people get 5 figure mileage from their tyres is all down to letting the bike get rolling before opening the throttle hard, because the SV has more low-down torque.
Doesn't make me not want to cane it from a standing start though... |

i am at just about 5k miles on my stock d220s.
i am going to need a new rear soon(1k more miles maybe). the front still looks good but i may just go ahead and replace both at the same time. |

The rear was a dud before 4K, profile was shot (plenty of tread). Confidence in the rear dropped sharply from 3.5K. I do tend to use the take off torque of the SV though and do treat the tyres hard. I changed mine for a pair of Avons, transformed the bike completely. They've done just under 3K and still look OK, a tad better for my riding style.
