Rounded & Cheesed off bleed nipple - how the feck do you get them out and off? - SV650.org

8mm bleed nipple on some tokico 4 pot calipers has rounded off. They were fine when i fitted them to the bike 3 months ago.

The bike needs MOT
in order to pass MOT I need to fit a new brake light pressure switch to the brembo master cylinder
in order to fit the brake light pressure switch I need to be able to bleed the brakes
I can't bleed the brakes because the nearside caliper is cheesed
No MOT so can't ride

So something which would normally be a bit of an inconvenience is stopping me from getting out when I've got 5 minutes spare to fart. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance

Take the caliper off and get the offending nip in a vice and remove it that way- but makesure you got replacement at hand 1st though

large molegrips will normally do it, or an imperial socket tapped on with a hammer, try tightening it a fraction, or a little heat, if all else fails, hacksaw across the top (making it like a screw) and a driver bit on a windy gun.

After that you're down to cutting it off and drilling it out.

the guys at york suzuki said I might be able to bleed through the banjo bolt if I'm careful - just to get it through MOT and then sort the POC when the bike isn't going to be ridden (winter time)... But HEL Northern Ireland have managed to feck up yet again, they sent me a new brake light pressure switch with the wrong pitch/thread on it. Took over 2 weeks to arrive and it has just transpired it's the wrong part... nob ends!

Thanks for the tips guys, not got much time to get it sorted before the AR!

demon tweeks used to do them Paul and they used to do an overnight delivery option, haven't used them in some time, but worth a try.

cheers dude - I can see me taking the SRAD around the corner to have a quiet word with it. If that doesn't work it's gonna be me and the bike in the garage.... with the door shut and all my tools out.

if need be try goodridges, venhills or wemoto as they have the banjos in stock

I've engaged my brain on this one - gonna refit the standard suzuki master cylinder, try bleeding the brakes from the main banjo bolts on the calipers, get it through MOT, await new brake light pressure switch, then dedicated a weekend to re-fitting brembo MC and taking the calipers off the bike to get the bleeders out...

Bleeding fings! (see what I did there? kill me!)
