Default pyrenees tour june 2011

hi, as some of you may already know I have been asked by my mayor and the council to try to arrange a tour of our region next year. camping will be on the our football ground with amenities and food etc although gites or B+B's will be available for those that prefer the comforts of life.as we are hoping to attract around 150 bikes high speed escorted rides probably wont be available but we have maps etc and can show those interested where top go and enjoy oneselves. For those looking for a more sedate holiday we shall be seeing all the local sights , of which there are many, and be entertained in the evenings. we have specifically booked it mid week so that those who need a day or two to get here can. I have enclosed a poster of the event anyone interested please make contact with me or the mairie of st feliu d'amont if you speak french, it promises to be a hoot.

I am having a meeting with the village council today or tomorrow to outline what I would like to do no doubt they will have some input as well,
The thing is in this region there is so much to see and do a week is not long enough as all our guests will attest to. if you go onto our website www.coupdecoeur.co.uk and look at the page things to do or see it will give you soome idea.
I am also tying in the evenings with 2 of the local bike clubs, so a bit of fun is guaranteed.
The local clubs will also be on hand to show the regiion to people. for those wanting to ride quickly for insurance reasons it is difficult to advertise what we are going to do but I know that those people will be catered for as well. we have a great little circuit about 10 minutes away we may well arrange a track day there if there is enough support.

If you are thinking if getting down to the Pyranees, either for this trip or for any other, then I know from the SV1000 site that Nigel's place (and his 'escorted' rides) comes highly recommended from everyone who has been there. The videos that I have see nof some of his rides are amazing

I have driven through the Pyranees a few times, and did Carcassone/Millau on the bike this year. Getting down to Nigel's place (near Perpignan) and hitting Spain/Andorra is still very much on my wish list, along with getting over to the Alps. My in-laws have a place near Bergerac which I could use as a stopover...

Hmmmm, 2 weeks in France - Bergerac, Perpignan for a few days, blat along the south coast, up through the Alps, Route Napoleon - I feel a plan coming on

I can highly recommend the roads in that area. Unbelievable, some of the best biking roads I have ever come across.

Agreed. I spent just over a week down there in September and already signed up to go back next year. Perfect biking destination.

I stayed at one location, Les Cabannes, so I could enjoy the roads rather than touring with luggage. You can really ride your bikes how they are meant to be ridden as there is fook all traffic, amazing road surfaces and properly twisty roads!

I won't be there myself as not planning on going till Sept next year, but I'll pass this on to a few of the French locals who are bikers and may be interested.
