I invested in some white lithium grease for that sort of thing. Easiest to get hold of however was a spray tin of it made by WD40 so I have to spray it into something to stop it going everywhere, or onto a swab.

The manual adapter on the OM10 is well worth it; gives the camera an extra dimension and the user more control. It's strange it was an add on rather than incorporated into the camera.

I'm just back with more Minolta gear, a 35-70 zoom and a lovely 70-210 lump in excellent condition.
That's 4 lots of stuff I've bought on Gumtree now. All really nice people and genuinely good deals.

Apart from the om10 I've never found anything good on Gumtree myself. Johnny found the k1000

Maybe I've just been lucky. I'd never used Gumtree before - until Johnny started with the temptation.

Pentax K2 with 50mm f1.2 lens, Certo, two mowers, but also sold a ton of stuff on there - the consumerist joy of fatherhood. It's just classified for the 21st century. Shame it's easy to find things that are too far away, but at least you get to see what you're buying and do a deal.

That's true. You get the chance to look at things and walk away if you are not happy with it. Maybe that's why sellers are genuine. They know it's a face to face deal with no obligation so no point lying or trying to pass off junk.

Got the Super Frankarette stripped down to see whats wrong with the winder/film transport. Sometimes you can't fire the shutter after winding on. Seems the double exposure lock doesn't always release. May need oiling or degreasing, not sure which yet.

I took the shrunken leather off the XD5 and cleaned off all the old glue. I was going to reskin it but I'm quite taken with the futurist, minimalistic look. I think it's awesome. I might keep this and cover it with some kind of clear film. Reckon that would work?


I was playing round with the shutter too and lots of black specks appeared through the viewfinder. I think it's bits of foam from the shutter cushion coming off and getting behind the focus screen. It looks like I'll need to take that out, clean the screen and replace the foam.....another job for next week's rainy day.

It's naked! Didn't find any hidden messages? The Frankarette issues can be overcome by holding the winder full over for a few seconds longer.
