Default Knockhill Open pit lane - 26th October.

I'm planning on setting up the new race bikes on Monday 26th. Anyone else planning to be there? They also have a half day the day before.

Sounds like it could be fun, but I'll be in Holland

Are you still on the Hornet, or something different?

What a fantastic day! It stayed dry all day and the track was nowhere near at capacity meaning lots of free track.

It was a very interesting day in that I got to try the 750 against the 600 lap after lap and it looks like I'll be racing the 600 next year.

Video and pics coming soon..

Why the 600 mate?

(out of interest, I've heard time after time the 750s the better bike)

Just got on with the 600 (Its the K1). Instantly felt like I'd been riding it for ages. And by the end of the day I was sliding the rear very controllably and really getting the max from it.

The 750 SRAD was "Different" It was too short for me and I'd need to move the seat back about 6" to get the balance right. It actually felt like sitting on an RVF400 honda. Too short for my 6 ft frame. The performance was stunning and the brakes better than *anything* I've ever been on (so good it folded my arms up when breaking anywhere near max! I simply couldn't brace myself in the sitting position I could get into on it. If the EBC cast iron disks fit the 600 they'll be going on there.

The 750 will be going up for sale in the next few days and for anyone less than 6 ft its the ultimate track bike. If it doesn't sell I'll be splitting it and selling it off as parts. It'd be a shame to break it though. Its such a complete package.

Knockhill is a very interesting track. First turn is a blind apex, 3rd and 6th turn are blind apex. So is the 7th then you're into a serious hairpin and back up the straight. I tried getting trackside video of each turn (so I could compare lines) and half way through each bend I dissapear out of shot or appear into shot! I'd also heard that the top racers take the softest tyre and then ask for an even softer one for knockhill. I can't say I needed anything softer than the Dunlops I was running but I absolutely fried them during the day. Its going to be an expensive track for next year tyre wise.

I'd definitely do a Knockhill trackday (or half day) again and as I have the van now, if anyone in the P Massive fancy doing it I could get their bike up there for them.

Sounds like you had fun, I've never done Knockhill, maybe I need to combine it with a trip to my mum's in the borders one day...

Apologies for the glaring continuity errors (vest, other bikes, light etc) but this was filmed by my 70 year old Dad over about three hours in a little canon ixus camera

I've pieced together three laps trying to show the blind apexes.

I'm on the red and white suzuki but that should be obvious after about 10 seconds.

and this is my first ever go at editing too
