Default tyre fitting

does anyone fit there own tyres?
i do it all the time on my XR400, but wonder how hard it is on the SV.
there seems to be a £20 premium on fitting, but lots of cheaper deals mail order.
only want to do it if its reasonably easy, ie tyre levers and a bit of swearing, as with off rd tyres. not if i need any special gear.

do you balance your own tires? the sv will start to become unstable after around 70 if the wheels are not balanced.

A few people do, but tbh it's jst not worth it with tubeless tyres unless you're prepared to buy some kit...

Breaking the bead on the tyres requires a lot of force for starters

yea i forgot about balancing. don`t need to on the Xr knobblies and trials tyres with 12-15 lbs of pressure so don`t go over 70 anyway.
will just take them to a fitter, it was just a thought. cheers.

You can balance them yourself if you own a pair of axle stands... Some people balance their wheels in situ, whether or not this is a good idea I don't know

Can you break a bike tyre's bead with a mallet? I've done that with car tyres, no idea if it works for bikes. (if not, you can build a press- all it needs to be is a big lever ultimately)

It's something I've thought about doing after speaking to FS, still not really decided if it's worth it though.
