Default Birthday hike

Just starting to pull together the kit for my big hike from Harlech to Abermaw, down through the Rhinogydd. There are five of us including daughter Eleri, plus dogs making the trek this year.

My intention is to spend my 70th with friends up in the mountains, "far from the madding crowd". Hope the weather is kind to us!

Awesome hope the birthday gods sort the weather for you, have a good and safe trek. No way you're 70.

All the best for it, Gary. How many miles is that?

Thanks Geo. Can't quite believe it myself. I certainly don't feel like I imagined 70 would be like when I was younger.

Total distance is around 25 miles but there's a hell of a lot of ascent and descent in that. Forecast is reasonable for Tuesday and Wednesday, wet from 10am on Thursday though. That's ok as we'll be heading down out of the mountains for y Bermo on Thursday morning.

Just seen this. Happy birthday Gary. I can't believe you're 70. Enjoy the hike.

Thanks John. Birthday isn't actually until Wednesday, by which time I should finish the day with the tent pitched at around 2500ft.

Thought my estimate sounded short. Stayed at Kings YH several years ago and did a walk in that area. Dont know when/if I will ever get back to the high hills - I was diagnosed from suffering from multiple strokes last night at 3am although not too bad symptoms, just very unsteady and slow . Have a great couple of days
