Default Is a 6.5" x 6.5" plate legal?

Now I'm usually pretty good at finding these things out using google buy I cant find this out and the sticky thread does not answer it, and the link within the sticky thread does not work.

I only have 6 digits on my number plate, so does this mean a 6.5" x 6.5" plate would be legally sized?

On websites such as craigsplates it seems to suggest that it is a legal UK size for 6 digits but I cant find any confirmation of that.

Finally, can anyone recommend any good bike number plate websites or is craigsplates about the best out there?

(Yes I have finally been fined for my nuber plate lol)

No its not. 9 x 7 is the only real legal size, you might get away with smaller but it depends on the size and spacing of the letters on your plate.

I've been buying my plates from a guy on ebay called "rorysplates" £11.99 including postage and next day delivery, but I dont know if he is still trading...

6 Digits would be lost in a 9 x 7 plate.

Just been reading the confusing DVLA site and it looks like the size of the PLATE can be anysize.....providing the characters are the right size with the correct spacing. So if 6 legally sized digits can fit within a 6.5 x 6.5 piece of reflective acrylic with the correct spacing, then its legal.

I guess craigs plates and other sites would not have the option otherwise they seem pretty much by the book nowdays.

Might be safest to buy a normal size plate with your 6 digits then trim off the excess yellow
