Default Misfire perhaps?

Hi

My bike's always been really reliable, but today on my way home from work whilst accelerating hard in 3rd, the engine seemed to "miss a beat", the power went completely then returned sharply all in about half a second. It then started doing this in all gears, sometimes accompanied by the speedo needle shooting all over the place of its own accord, but returning to normal after the half-second-or-so engine stutter. Anyone got any ideas as to what the problem could be? I'll have to take it to the garage tomorrow otherwise, can't be riding around corners/in traffic with it doing that all the time.

Thanks, Larry.

EDIT: thanks whoever improved my title with the technical lingo

Good morning.
It could be something a simple as a loose battery terminal, as the speedo jumping indicates some sort of electrical skullduggery.
Check all main connections carefully I.E. Battery terminals, those on the starter solenoid, & the main fuse. It could be a connection on the ignition switch which is a touch more difficult to check.

Cheers.

Hi

Been away for the weekend, but just to say thanks for the advice there, pointed me in the right direction; the problem seems to have been loose battery terminals and the sidestand not having been lubed properly I reckon caused the cutting out. Managed to find that out tonight and it rides fine again now

Cheers, Larry.
