Default Upgrading from 650 - 1000 SV?

Who's done it?

Given my current situation, I may be inclined to "let go" the Curvey 650 But, my old next door neighbout has a K3 (think) SV1000 in blue, with twin ART cans on it for sale.... Hardly ever uses it hence why he's selling..

Now my insurance is only £222 per year, FC. I know no-one really knows without speaking to insurance, but i just wondered if there were any SV650 owners who have upgraded to a 1000cc. What kind of price hike did you get?

I can't see it being TOOOOOO bad as the SV1000 isn't exaclty a performance bike in terms of power?

Hows the running costs of the 1000 compared to the 650?

Im doing about 60 miles per day, using about £30-£40 of fuel per week (depending on going out in the evenings etc).

I'd expect at least another £200 a year but then again your £222 already sounds like peanuts to me, i pay £490 FC.

Its around the 110BHP mark so equivalent to 600cc IL4 sports, should be quite a bit more gutsy than the SV650. Expect the usuall higher wear of tyres, chains, fuel etc.

obviously try a quote first but you might be pleaseantly surprised. After a years no claims on the sv650 i can get insured on a 1k for the same price i paid for the first year on the 650 (£300tpft)

You then have to decide what to do with the 650 tho either fit new engine and sell but then you may aswell just keep it or you sell it in bits which can be a pita.

sv1k are a very underated bike and are very good value for money
