Default Cost of 15k service

Hi all

Got my 15k service coming up, and just wanted to know how much orgers have paid. I don't particularly want to know about those that do it themselves (the gloaters) - just those who had it done at a stealership. Thing is, I've been quoted £250 by one stealer and a whooping £450 by another.

Any places to recommend in Hertfordshire or North London area that's cheaper or is £250 about right?

Chin

seriosuly mate if i were you id get a manual and do it yourself, dealers will charge you a fortune to do it and i would be very suprised if they actually did everything you paid for!

SV rory - I can do all the other services - got a Haynes already, but the valve clearance check scares the be-jesus-outta-me. I don't mind the manual labour bits, but using all the teckkie stuff (gauges etc) isn't my cup of tea. I'd rather a stealership check for the valves than my engine blowing up.

whay dont you just pay a mechanic to do that and you do the rest, will save you a fortune

i refuse to pay somebody to do any kind of service on my bike, im servicing mine sometime this week for the second time this year and its still probably cost less than just one dealer service

I didn't have my 'thinking cap' on - WILL-do just that. I just called the stealers, and they'll just check the clearances for me at 1 hours labour.

When i used to have My SV dealer serviced, i never paid more than £200 EVER for a service, no matter what one it was. I now do my own, and this weekend paid £44 for the oil plugs, and oil filter!

Local shop. Thats a gallon of silkoline 4t, Suauzuki oil filter and 2 NGK spark plugs. Never much more expensive than Hein Gericke. I already had an air filter, i have plenty of brake fluid, and anti freeze is fine.

The reason the dealer only wants an hours labour for the valve check is because it is really easy to do.You can do it too if you can do the other service bits like oil/filter changes. What the dealer will want serious dosh for is doing valve shim adjustments IF they find them to be needed. If you check them yourself for free you will know if they need doing, and can start to budget accordingly, but SVs rarely seem to need reshimming.
