R6 throttle twistgrip mod.
All i can say is if you haven't done it then do it, especially if you have a curvy. Seriously, for the sake of £10 for the part it really transforms the bike and makes it a lot more enjoyable to ride. Throttle is more responsive and just a whole lot better
Note: make sure that you adjust any excess slack out the throttle cable when you do it. |

Re: R6 throttle mod
At the high risk of sounding like a noob, what is this R6 throttle mod you speak of? :P

Re: R6 throttle mod
It's basically replacing the stock SV throttle grip/assembly with one from a Yamaha R6. It shortens up the throttle travel so that the distance from fully closed to fully open is less. In real terms it makes the throttle more responsive to rider input. It's a straight swap on a curvy, but I think there is some slight cutting of the new part involved to fit it to a pointy.

R6 throttle mod.
I've got oxford heated grips on.. Does it replace the grips themselves (useless to me) or is it just the tube inside the grip?
I hope that makes sense? TIA |

Re: R6 throttle mod.
Its funny, for the street I much prefer modulating the throttle using the standard throw. Its only on the track where I've ever really found the need to wind it quickly to the stop. But I also use heated grips which make a larger grip and is much more comfortable to use (easier grip, less fatigue).

Re: R6 throttle mod.
Just the throttle tube (inside bit), but only on a curvy. Not sure its such a issue on a pointy

Re: R6 throttle mod.
Pass, probably, I just went into my dealer and ordered any R6 tube.
Worked a treat on my curvy. Do a search on here, as there might be issues with fitting it to a pointy.

Re: R6 throttle mod.
Have a look at this article. Has the part number you need, I think it's from an 03-04 R6:
