Default Electric help plz

Right my SV, got new HT leads and spark plugs, connected them up and looking at the sparks i get on both pots, they are ****! So battery fully charged running 13.9Volts (werid but not bothered). what else shall i try? how do i measure the power through the HT leads? what should it be?any ideas people?

What actually makes you think there's a problem at all?

the sparks im getting look real weak when i hold the plug against engine casing and the bike wont start, so electrics is a gd place to start. how would i check the coils? i got the both out but how i check them?

Quick Q.

Are your coils separate from the HT leads? 650 coils and leads are one piece. Did you splice your new leads to he old ones?

and when you say the sparks are bad, how are you judging that? What colour are they? I think from memory, a good spark should be moving towards a dark purple.

the sparks seem to be unconstant but bluy purply, but seem rather thin from all the other sparks on bikes iv seen. I have 2 coils and the HT leads screw into each one, so i uncrewed old and screwed in new ones. any other questions ask, plz anyone else have any ideas?

beg, or borrow an oscilloscope.
Leave all HT leads connected up normally and just clip the 'scope's signal lead onto the HT lead insulation. If you're testing an engine with a dizzy then put the sync lead on lead 1, and signal lead on the king lead. On the SV, then sync is redundant.
You should not try a direct electrical connection - the scope will pick the signal up through the insulation.
The scope should show a very large peak, followed by 'ringing' - the signal oscillates across zero line a few times.

A scope is by far the best bit of electrical test gear ever devised - and will show up faulty coils, HT, LT, charging - even fuelling ! (though that's more difficult to read). If you ever wanted to check anything electrical, then a scope will just draw you a nice picture

Agreed, for any hard to diagnose 'leccy probs a 'scope can't be beat.

In the circumstances though, first off I'd check the coil resistances and the wiring connectors, the source of the vast majority of SV ignition woes, assuming there are any of course.
