I'd have to question that they don't have the intensity for throw, the chip on these modern things looks reasonably. The LED dive lights with modern power LEDs in certainly do throw.

When the lamps led through and through yes LED are great.
But were talking a mix of reflector designed for incandescent filament.with a planar light source.
Its not going to do justice.
Love the LED lamps on thr nissan but that's how it came out of the box.

OK, have spent my life savings on a single unit which came about £75 shipped. Out came the Philips Extreme Vision bulb and in went the LED. Fitting was easy however the adapter that fits on the H4 base is quite soft plastic which means you need to be careful when fitting the unit. You need to fit the adapter on the reflector, fit the original rubber cover, then fit the unit through the cover.
I'll try to get some pictures up later, but so far I feel that the spend was justified.
Lights are now significantly more powerful - both lo and hi beam. Low beam pattern is slightly higher but I have dropped the aim a bit down and nobody has been flashing their lights on me so far. The pattern is good shape with small areas of reflection over the base line at around 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock which doesn't seem to dazzle other road users too much.
Intensity seems similar to a H4 HID conversion kit I have tried before but with better pattern (tried that on Honda CBR 600F though and in the end I was left without lights in dark when the ballast went dead). Additional benefit of the LED unit is that I can carry a spare H4 bulb under the seat and replace it very easily on the road if needed.

Decided to take a punt as well, and they're brilliant much better throw than traditional lamps good spread on the road and the beam pattern looked good to me backed up by doing over 300 miles over the last few days with no one flashing me.
They're going to make my commute down poorly lit country roads much nicer.

finn/tom - which unit did you go for? Have you got a link for it?

I've gone from normal H4 to some ebay special superbright, to the Philips ones, and I'm still not happy with how far ahead they light the road.

That's the one tom_e is giving you a link for. You need to email them if you want to purchase a single unit rather than a twin kit. They will then give you a discount code which allows you to purchase just one pulb.
