Re: Bonus Payment
She must really think you deserve it.
In business, for me at least im here for mainly one reason: Money. If i get a bonus and the rest of the team doesn't i keep it quiet. It's the only way to stop people worrying about what you are being paid and if they are on good enough salary. Tip for the future: negotiation on pay is fine when looking for new jobs, reach higher than you think you can. I think it's quite fun doing a deal. Personally, I think you boss has gone soft in the head. Take the money and run! Dan |

Re: Bonus Payment
hmm - although she is offering the cash for the right reason, there's probably something your terms and conditions about not accepting cash gifts from senior staff (this is to protect you in case it turns out not to be a 'gift' in the long run and they pursue you for it back. I'm not saying that's the case here, but that's why they'd do ti).
If she genuinely means it, then she should tell her boss she will only accept the bonus on the grounds that it is shared, then they can get HR to split it legitimately through the payroll. and that takes care of the tax etc as well. |

Re: Bonus Payment
I asked for a pay rise once, the boss said "what will the other workers say?" I replied "I'm not telling them if you don't"
I got my pay rise. |

Re: Bonus Payment
Go for it Lily, you don't know when you'll get the chance of a bonus again. You'll deserve it anyway, she wouldn't have thought twice about giving it you if not

Take it. If your boss feels you deserve it, take it. |

Re: Bonus Payment
My point was that if it goes through the payroll it's above board and there is no potential for comeback. Unless, of course, senior staff are allowed to make substantial personal cash gifts (which is unlikely).

Re: Bonus Payment
No it would be done (and have to be done) without the company knowing! If the company knew they would withdraw the bonus from her.
I think i will tell her that if that is what she wants wants to do with her bonus that is up to her, i will not refuse it! |
