Default Bar end fitting

It looks like the previous owner made a right mess of the bar ends on my SK5, the bit inside the clip on that the bolt bites into seems to be a bit mashed up so getting new ones bolted in tight doesn't seem to be happening.

Whatever the bolt screws into seems to be spinning in the clip on so I can't unbolt it or tighten it.

Any ideas?

If I can at least get the bolt out and there's enough space in the clip on before the rubber I'm just going to stick some universal ends on, which is a shame because my brand new R&G one's are so shiny.

Pull the rubber inside out and have a look. It works on friction so may be pushed in.
Replacement bolts, go to an engineering factors with it and they should be able to get a match

so the rubber that the bar ends screw into is just held by friction? If that's the case I'll get some wd40 down it and give it a good yank

After some Googling it looks like you're supposed to be able to pull the rubber and the bar end out as one once you've slacked the bolt slightly, this was never going to happen with the bar ends that were on there they appeared to just be screwed into the rubber bung.

So now I imagine the nut the bar end bolt is supposed to screw into is just flapping around at the other end of my clip on and that's why I've got nothing to screw the new ones into.

What's the best way of pulling the old rubber out? It doesn't look like you can take the other end of the clip on off and push it out.

Went for the delicate approach in the end, got a socket extender and a rubber mallet and just bashed the rubber bungs far enough down the clip ons that I can fit a set of Oberon universal bar ends on now.
