led flasher .......need wiring help please
ive bought a little led unit from maplins , like an led light unit you get with alarms, would like to put it next to the speedo on the bike so it looks like ive got an alarm (really dont want to put a real alarm on as its not worth the hassle and nobody takes any notice anyway) would like it to go off with the ignition turned on , but know nothing about where i can connect it to on the bike, spose it would be ignition switch?
any help gladly appreciated |

Re: led flasher .......need wiring help please
dunno if this works on a bike but years back on my mums mk 1 golf i acidently figured out that if you wire the +ve from the LED to the oil pressure switch, and -ve to battery, the LED automaticly came on whenever the engine wasnt on... ie there is no oil presure!
cant see why this wouldnt work on the SV...

well all your doing is adding another wire to whats already there.. you can route it smartly under the fuel tank and no one would be any wiser as to where its comming from - alarm or oil pressure switch!

Re: led flasher .......need wiring help please
Wire a relay so its normally-closed, solenoid goes from ignition +ve to ground, contacts go from battery +ve via fuse to LED unit.
Preferably pick up on the "signal" fuse for the solenoid as if something goes wrong with it, it won't kill the engine.
