Wirral Egg Run 2008 - Thread to Chat about the Run and Arrange Meeting point etc.
If Carlsberg did rideouts ... then the Wirral Egg Run would probably be the best ... ok maybe not, but it is certainly one of the biggest and what's more it is for a good cause.
I have lived on the Wirral for years and prior to passing my test (in fact, prior to even being interested in bikes) I used to marvel at the sheer numbers and variety of bikes that used to pass through Wallasey Village on a Sunday morning, on their way to local hospitals to hand out easter eggs to sick children, and on one occassion stopping me from getting home from a Sunday shopping-trip to Tesco with ice-creams in the boot of my car LOL Some of you will have heard of the event, and some of you no doubt will have taken part ... and some of you may have heard about the cancelling of the event, the barren years of "unofficial" runs, and last year's registration fiasco (which probably prevented a lot of bikers turning up). 2008 is the return of the OFFICIAL (no registration required) WIRRAL EGG RUN. So stick this date in your diary NOW ... 16th March. Further information available here I have never taken part in an egg run, but I would like to make this my first, so I am hoping to be there ... anyone else? EDIT: To make this info easy to find, I'm putting Pedro's meeting point info in here..... SV650.ORG MEETING POINT DETAILS: Location: Tesco Car Park, Bidston. Time: 10:30am Directions: I would have Google-mapped it, but I'll leave that to individuals, and just give my own (written) directions from M53. Exit J1 of M53 and if you are exiting from the northbound carriageway then take the 3rd exit at the roundabout onto A554 (Bidston Link Road). If coming from Liverpool, use the Wallasey Tunnel and continue ahead towards M53. However before you actually join the M53 take the exit signposted "Non motorway traffic" and "New Brighton" (IIRC), and then get in the left-hand lane down the slip-road towards B&Q (on your left), and take the first exit at the roundabout onto A554. Take the A554 (Bidston Link Road). The dual carriageway takes you past B&Q/Halfords (J1 Retail Park) and over the railway line - keep in the left hand lane because at the bottom at the roundabout you want the first exit. This takes you into Tescos car park and petrol station. To avoid the shoppers I'd suggest meeting up somewhere close to the recycling banks (at the end of the car park nearest the petrol station). From Tescos it will be a 5 minute ride to New Brighton. Last edited by Luckypants; 21-01-08 at 10:39 AM. |

Re: Wirral Egg Run 2008
I'll be there. If we want to make it a .ORG outing, we will need to organise a place to meet up prior to getting to New Brighton since we stand no chance of meeting at the actual start. We will also need to arrange where to meet at Clatterbridge, because once on the run it will be hard to stay together.
I have some ideas from previous experience, but am happy to leave this one to the locals. If folks are coming from outside the area, perhaps they can start threads in their local area forum (there is already one in The Border Patrol) to arrange riding together. EDIT: This is the day after Wales play France at then end of the 6 nations, so depending on results it might be a hard weekend

Well just be restrained then ... don't want the local police stopping you (as if they could ) during the egg run |

Re: Wirral Egg Run 2008
I fancy it too. I've done a few egg runs in M'cr, but only as a Traffic Cop escorting the convoy. Hopefully be ready in time.

I'll probably be up for this, too. I did the Stoke Toy Run a few years back and it was awesome.

OFFICIAL SV650.ORG MEETING POINT DETAILS:
Location: Tesco Car Park, Bidston. EDIT: Claire beat me to it ... so ... what she said LOL EDIT #2: Due to Tescos possibly being a popular re-fuelling place for people (and also due to the attendants having the attention span of goldfish) ... if anyone needs to stop for petrol elsewhere I can give you a list of alternatives (there ain't that many! There's a Murco/Costcutter petrol station in Wallasey Village) Last edited by Pedro68; 21-01-08 at 10:39 AM. |
