Question worried about Harvey, my basset hound

I noticed one of the two dogs, Elvis or Harvey was vomiting a bit over the weekend... but having just changed their diet I wasnt too concerned.. Tuesday I spent the day at home with Harvey... and his breakfast ended up on the floor within seconds of eating it ... as did the water he drank. off we toodled to the vet. Harvey has to stay in for X-Rays (vet very concerned bout the instantaneous vomiting)... nothing showing on X-Ray...

Wednesday morning he still not well.. another X-Ray.. and they decided to operate to see what was going on... low and behold they find Lymph Nodes, which are normally pea sized, the size of tennis balls in his stomach, undigested food (12 hours after he'd eaten - so undigested the vet could actually tell what brand food he'd eaten!!) a very enlarged pancreas and swollen intestines...

Biopsy results should've been available today but lab very busy so still not in, he has not eaten since Tuesday eve, on a drip and pain killers... and today his blood count (white and red) were both very low...

I feel the vet aint telling me the whole truth... i cant find much under symptoms he has on google... but what i have found it doesnt sound good!!! Considering he is only 12 months old... i just find it so hard to believe that overnight he has gone from a healthy happy boy to within a shadow of himself. She mentioned it could be viral infection - there aint nothing wrong with my other hound dog...

Has anybody experienced any of the above symptoms in their dogs - whats was the outcome? was it cancer? (the vet not sure if his pancreas attacked his stomach or vice versa)

I can only hope and that the vets seemingly apathetic attitude is justified...

(i do know that when i get handed the vet bill i will end up in hospital with heart failure but thats really no worries just as Harvey comes out of this fine and dandy!!!)

thanks for "listening" Vanessa

I can't help I'm afraid, but I sincerely hopes he gets better, for a 12 month old dog to be like this seems very serious. I have a soft spot for bassets, I had one from basset rescue for a while.
For you to be left fighting over the weekend with him, is bang out of order, but i suppose, like with children, if hes drinking..is he still on the drip??...he hopefully will be ok. But we think of our pets like a member of the family so get anxious and worried.

I do hope he gets better hugs for all

I do hope you have insurance, sounds like your ready for the shock of the bill

be keeping fingers crossed that everything turns out ok-if you feel your vet is hiding things come out with it and chin them-your paying top dollar(or you will be )-if it was a doctor with one of your kids you'd keep at them until they told you all -so keep asking whats happening and where he's at
good luck
