Default Your Favourite All-Weather Tyres for the SV ?

Hey all, I'm getting on fine with the Dunlops that came with the bike - yesterday got caught in my 1st torrential downpour on the A1(M) & it was fine - good because all the cars slowed down to 60 so no pressure.

But for the next tyres I'll be looking at something more commuter/ tourer/ all weather - what do people like for that purpose ?

I suppose I'd like durability, wet weather performance, reasonable price & the moon on a stick ! But I guess if something has to give it would be price.

Pilot Road 3/4, Avon something ?, Metzler something ?

Just curious to hear people's opinions.

i used to ride my bike in all weathers, sunny days to torrential rain. I became a big fan of Michelin Pilot Power 2CT. Heat up really quick, maintain heat and a very well balanced tyre. Tread is nice large sipes that run all the way to the edge. Never had any moments in the wet they were pretty consistent in all weathers and temperatures.

Thanks for the recommendation, pricing doesn't seem crazy, either.

I will do a bit to avoid the very ****test weather. I like to avoid Jan/ Feb if I can, get the train even if it's slower.

But there is a kind of fun in riding in crap conditions. I remember riding on unlit country lanes in driving rain on my 125 with all the headlamps of a candle & it was kind of exhilarating. That was a 12 mile commute, though, my current 42 miles would be hellish in really bad weather.

mine is the PR3 but another member i ride with has metzeler roadtec 01 on his FZ1 and they are doing mega miles with what he says is great grip wet or dry. i'm thinking of giving them a try next but they are going to have to be pretty good to better the PR3.

I replaced the OEM Qualifiers at 3500 miles due to a screw stuck in the rear.
The rear was almost down to the wear bars and didn't have much left in it.
Got a good deal at a well known tyre fitter in Aberdeen for a pair of PR4s and after 500 miles am very happy with them.

In the past I have ordered tyres online from Tyretec and their service and prices were first rate.

BT021 for me. 13,000 miles off a set commuting 60+ miles a day on the A1(M) daily in all weathers.
Any tyre will grip less well under 7C just slow down a little.

I've managed a whole years riding both wet & dry on Pirelli Angel ST's.
Probably not the best wet or dry and a fairly mid price / budget tyre too.
However when the bike is ridden to reflect the weather conditions they have been more than adequate for my daily commute.

Here is a thread about Avon Storm tyres - they certainly seem durable..........

I have a Storm 3DXM on the rear and a Roadrider front. Brilliantly matched, confident when cold, heat up quick and maintain heat.
