Hi
I have just attempted to adjust my clutch on my 2000 sv 650s after an oil top up. Now after the adjustment when i start the bike in neutral and then engage first gear with the clutch lever held in the bike switches off. What have i done incorrectly? Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance |

Simple checks? Is the stand switch working correctly?

Is it stopping with a jolt because the clutch will not disengage,or is it just cutting out when you engage first because the electrical cut out switch that detects the side stand being down is now oversensitive? My guess is it will be one or the other,as you have been working around that area.

Stand switch good. It stops with a jolt as it feels the clutch will not disengage.

Used recommended oil. Now after adjusting I have no clutch at the lever, extremely loose. Any suggestions

You need to have another go at the adjustment. Adjust at the engine end first and then at the lever. Very good thread on clutch adjustment here.

if you striped the worm gear down to clean it then you might have put the half moon shaped bracket underneath instead of on top.

Also double check the oil level - overfilling has been known to cause clutch issues
