Default Propping tank up to change air filter - any chance of fuel leaking if tank's full?

As title asks really, I'm going to service the sv myself (and do the brakes with help from yorkie chris = top man!) to save money & learn about the bike. I've already got the oil filter in it's box from suzuki, and I'll be getting a new air filter asap. It sounds easy enough to do from what I've read in the haynes manual and other threads on here, but is there any chance of fuel p1ssing out through the filler cap if it's full to the top? I'm guessing it'd be best to do it when the tanks only got a few litres left in?

thanks in advance, p dubz

Only if you leave the petrol cap open
Its not likely to leak on your bike. And if i can do it with my eyes closed...so can you

cheers guys!

I forgot to ask earlier, I'm changing my oil & oil filter (this saturday morning prolly), the guys at padgetts suzuki said I wouldn't need a new washer for the sump plug (since i've only done about 3k-3.5k miles), but I've heard it's best to replace it regardless of condition since they're so cheap - is it just a standard washer I could get from B&Q? what size? and where can I get one? cheers!

Don't think YC has changed my washers on the last couple. But then i am told my attention span is rubbish so i may not have noticed...but then again he'd have made me buy one

Oh and he just said it is possible to get petrol leak out of a very full tank when propped. I've not had it happen, and the tank on Suze seems to be permenantly propped lately

nice one @ washers - I'll just take it easy with em.

As for overflowing fuel, I only asked because I was bored and took the fuel filler cap off one day. Was suprised to find it wasn't sealed/tight to the tank & acts almost as a kind of fascia to the big hole in the top of the tank.

You been havin trouble with the yellow one dizzee?

It would have to be really full, brimed I'd say and then I think it would leak out of the breather holes in the top of the tank.

I've changed the washer on the sump, first time at 64k. It was from multi pack I got at Halfords a few moons ago.

Leave washer alone it'll be fine, if it leaks then it will be very tiny leak anyway.

Good idea to do maintenance with only about 1/4tank, that way it's easy to lift off if you need to.
