I think the broader topic here is why do people need mind altering drugs enjoy life. In the western world for some reason people are unable to enjoy anything from football to their kids birthday party without booze.

A admit that I have the odd pints of stout or bottle of magners (maybe 3 a month) but that's due to me liking the taste.

Actually, that's a very valid point, I get my enjoyment from bikes so if I had to give up something, it would be drugs, alcohol etc, not bikes.

I don't drink anywhere as much as I used to and tbh I don't miss it, I like a drink but don't need one.

it's not just the western world it's the world over apart from those holy book believing individuals who think that they should let religion rule their life and take everything written in that book as the truth.

BTW i very very rarely drink as i don't need to drown my misery.

Another thing that bugs me is that I am always seen as the boring one, my friends go out every Friday and Saturday on the ****, meeting the same people in the same pub and then spending all day in bed to recover from a night out they can't remember. Whilst I'm out doing all sorts of activities fulfilling my life with experience yet I'm the boring one.

Whilst I'm on a rant many people I know are growing a trash to raise awareness for male cancers yet half of the also drink and smoke....

well if that's what you think the carry on m8.

i don't drink much now and don't partake in drugs any more but i still socialise when i get the chance. so you don't need drugs or drink to be social.

Not trying to insult or cause offence!
But your response to my post contradicts your earlier post in the sense you acknowledge that you can be social and enjoy yourself with booze.

My point is that their is a belief that you are boring and have no friends if you don't go out every weekend drinking.

All depends on age, I am currently 21 and go out near enough every weekend on the lash.

I would give up my bike before I gave up drinking. That is if I didn't use it every day for getting to work.

yes i can but at the same time i don't need to. there is many times i have gone out with the lads to the pub but drank juice while they get totally hammered but i still join in and have fun.

my friends are just that and they are friends because they like my company pizzed or sober it makes no odds to them or me we still get along with each other.

if i'm out and decide i want to get drunk, stoned, trip then i will and that choice is mine as sometimes i enjoy the experience, sometimes not but i made the choice. but as i said i don't have to take substances to enjoy the company of friends. in fact it's sometimes more fun watching them suffer
