This may seem obvious to most people David but have you asked an insurance company?

Re: traders policys whats the full script
can you get a car and bike traders policy together - YES
do you need a registered busness to get one - I believe so (but you can be a sole trader) how much more expencive is it in reality (taking into account seperate bike and car policies) loads and the excess is extortinate my mates is £2000. would i be fully comp on all vehicles - Yes but the excess makes it unecomonical to claim on most things could i add the wife as a named driver - You can add employees, so if your wife is an employee |

Re: traders policys whats the full script
You can get a sole trader policy that'll cover you to drive and ride anything.
However. You will be saying to the insurance company that you are a motor trader. You will have to prove you buy and sell vehicles if required. If you can't, your screwed. I deal a lot with sole traders, or those who claim they are and who haven't bought or sold a vehicle in years. In every circumstance, the insurance company refuse cover and it's bye bye car! It used to be an easy way of getting a policy and the companies would cover anything. Not any more. It's just too expensive when claims start coming in.
